Second trip to the US

So... I am going to write about my second trip to US. I was in Falls Church, VA, US during 20-27 November, 2010.  Again I was there to take CPA exams. Hope it is my last trip for a CPA `exam. I have taken last two exams which are “Audit” and “Business, Environment and Concepts”. Honestly, I really tired during the preparation process. And if you add to the preparation “a busy season” in the office which really crashed me. Now let us switch to my trip. Yeah, again it was long trip from Baku to Virginia. But it was better than my last trip in August. This time our fight connection was from London, Heathrow Airport. I was with by former colleague Sohrab. And I was really impressed with this airport. Large, comfortable airport, yes, Heathrow is so... I used to think that Heathrow is the worst airport in the world. However, I should note that it is not. It is obviously better than Frankfurt's airport. Finally after fourteen hours of flight and 6 hours of waiting we arrived to Dulles airport. Sohrab's brother Alasgar met us there. And great thanks to him for everything. He assisted us during our whole trip, drove us and not only. He made my trip really unforgettable. Advised when and where to shop, to eat, hunted for us accommodation. I am really appreciated. With Alasgar’s help I had a chance to look at US style of life. How they eat, how they live, how they drive. The house he rented for us in a silent city, Annan Dale. I was in shock when I saw deer in the backyard of the house. Clean air, cool weather, high trees make this place wonderful place for living. I enjoyed walking in the mornings. The landlord, Ricardo who is living in the basement of the house is also cool Latino guy.
Our exams ended first 4 days our trip and we had a chance to spend some time there. We have also been invited by Alasgar to thanks giving party at his home. Huge turkey was baked for this day. An interesting thing in Alasgar’s apartment is his dog, Luckshee. He is a Siberian husky which has lots of energy. He is hyper active dog, and likes playing with everybody. I had a chance to visit dog park with Alasgar. After 15 minutes of running the dog started playing with me. I should note that not I was playing with the dog, but the dog with me. When I noted this I was running around the dog and he was stimulating me.
After thanks giving party in US they usually have Black Friday, the day when most of shops offer huge discounts. The discounts are effective from 4 am until 1 pm. Therefore, I had a chance to do some shopping for me and not only. I bought 2 suits, 2 shoes for 2 ties for myself. Before visiting the US I bought a net book for me and some jewelery for my spouse from amazon.com. Again, thanks to Alasgar for taking care of my shipments. So, I think it was quite good trip from shopping point of view.
Taking into account that writing this story took me a half of month, now I know my exam results. Unfortunately, I failed BEC exam. But passed Audit exam. Only one point did not let me to became a CPA. The passing score is 75, my score is 74. I don`t believe my eyes when look at my score, 74.....
After my first trip I asked myself ``do I want to visit the US again?`` and the answer was ``yes``. Now I do ask myself ``do I want to live in the US?`` and again the answer is “yes”. I loved this country. Therefore, I believe that I will love Canadian life, too!!!

We are eligible for Canadian society!!!

I nearly became crazy when I checked status of our application for immigration to Canada. Yes..... The status is IN PROCESS. It means:
Based on review of your complete application package, it has been determined that your application is eligible for processing. Processing has begun.
What're magic words: Processing has begun. We are eligible for Canadian society. So some months and we will get permanent residentship. Just, we need to pass medical exam and interview if required.

Am I ready???

It's a main question I'm mainly worrying: "Am I ready for the exams???". I wasn't unsure during first two exams, but know I'm unsure... However, I have some days and long flight from Baku to Falls Church. I know that I have no other choice, I must be ready and I'll be ready!!! I can do it!!!

Travelling to Washington, DC

By the way I was on travel to Washington, DC during the period August 21-26, 2010. It was quite difficult travel due to long flights and long break between the flights. I was fighting with Lufthansa. Our plane from Baku took off at 7:15 am to Frankfurt. It was 5 hours flight in Airbus 300. It was comfortable flight with an individual entertainment system for each passenger. We landed in Frankfurt at 9 am and our flight to Washington DC was at 1 pm. So it was 4 long hours of waiting. I was really frustrated with in Frankfurt Airport. I heard that it’s one of the largest airports in airport and was really thinking that the airport should be good. However, it was narrow corridors without any power point, upsetting service. You cannot believe I bought a bottle of water for five dollars. Yeah for five, in fact it was for 2.9 Euros, however when I gave to seller 10 dollars he returned me only five dollars. I asked is it all and he said “yes” it makes 5 dollars. I really felt myself foolish and deceived. So I decided not to spend any cent in this fucking airport. Being deceived the only thing resting for me was waiting… Before entrance to the plane which was Boeing 747 I was thinking that if the flight from Baku to Frankfurt was good, soothe flight from Frankfurt to Washington, DC should be better. However, it wasn’t. The sits were narrow, no separate entertainment system and long queues in front of the lavatories. And I have to flight in such conditions for 8 hours… It was terrible, however great thanks to CPA book on which made my flight shorter. Finally I arrived to Washington, DC at 4 pm on August 21, 2010. Looks like the travel took from me only 7 hours, however, if we take into consideration time difference it makes 16 hours without early arrival to the airport and waiting for US board officer for 1.5 hours.
Now let’s talk about Washington. First two nights it was difficult for me to change my body’s time zone. I could not sleep in the nights. However, everything established in couple of days. Washington is an administrative city with clean, tidy streets. Let me to describe Washington by pluses and minuses. What I liked: streets which are organized quite practically, people who are free in everything (when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING), parks which quite natural, air which is clean due to trees, chicken salad sandwich which was wonderful. What I dislike pronunciation of black men and women (I discovered that they are not speaking in English at all), foods which consist of mix of many and many cultures.
I want to underline freedom of people. They really feel themselves free. And during working days they look very busy and always hurrying. However, during week-ends you can rarely meet someone in the street. I would like to divide habitants of Washington in three categories: firsts(50%) are working hard, doing sport and look fit and beautiful; seconds (40%) also work hard however, they do not do any sport and they eat more than they need, which makes them fat, they look too big and moving with the difficulty; thirds (10%) are unsuccessful in their life they do not earn money, just begging in the street, talking loud, not respecting anyone, including themselves.

I was really happy when I felt “freedom” also. It was in front of the White House after my last CPA exam, when I decided to spend my free 5 hours just relaxing. I bought my famous chicken sandwich and Pepsi and decided to have my lunch in the park which is located in front of the White House. Sitting on a bench I had my lunch and spent 1.5 hour just looking around. And people lying on the grass attracted my attention. It was a lunch time and people working around took their sandwiches and visited the park to spend their lunch time. They were eating, laughing and chatting. After long thinking I decided to do as they do. I lied on my jacked and backpack. You cannot believe but I was so happy. I was mixed happiness. The exams ended for now, the weather was wonderful, and looking to air made me really happy. I forgot everything and really enjoyed. For me, guy from Azerbaijan it was quite difficult to decide to lie on grass in the city park, when people are around. However, I did it and do not regret.

As a conclusion I can say that I like Washington and I will be glad to visit it again…

How it's started...

So far as I was thinking about immigration to Canada for long time finally I sent my application package to Immigration Services in Sydney, Canada on March 17, 2010. May be I could wait more, but news I got on March 15, 2010 shook me up. Looking through forum regarding immigration to Canada in the site ww.disput.az I noted that effective from April 10, 2010 Canadian government is going to change immigration procedures for skilled workers. And under new rules skilled workers will be required to submit EILTS results along with the application package. Currently, EILTS results is not required for the submission of the application package to Sydney. And it should be submitted to the Visa Office (embassy in Ankara) as a second step in the process. Therefore, believing that I can pass the exam in next months I decided to complete the forms and send them immediately to Sydney. Making a long story short I have filled the forms for me and my spouse and sent them to Sydney today at 12:30. Hope I'll remember this time forever. This is a start of new period in my and my family's life. The transition period is started. However, my son (he is 5 months) doesn't feel this for now.
My application has been delivered to the Immigration Office on March 23, 2010 at 15:27.

As a second step I have sent my full package (application+documents required) to the embassy in Ankara, Turkey on August 5, 2010. Now I am waiting for AOR (Approve of Receipt).
Hope this period will pass smoothly! And our transition to Canadian will end with success.

How and why?

Most popular question I am being asked regarding my decision to immigrate to Canada is "Why man, why? Why you? You have a self-made career, you are married i.e. you are successful person and you have everything you could desire". May be they are right, however, my decision was not so easy. Taking into account that passing successfully the immigration process and immigrating to Canada I will have to start everything from beginning, I could not make easy deceision on the immigration. But the starting point for me was August 29, 2009 - the day when I have seriously faced with the government authorities due to car accident. It took me lots of nervs (I was really unguilty) and finally I decided that I don't want that me or one of my family members to be in such situation in future. Then all action taken by the authorities started to burn me up and finally I had a nervous break-down. So, at the end I decided that I can not wait any more and I must leave this country as soon as possible. And I don't want to have any relations with the bitchy government authorities any more.
Believe me starting the date (March 15, 2010) I have sent my application package to the CIO in Sydney, Nova Scotia I have never regret about the decision I made.

This is my little story why I have decided to immigrate...
